VINEYARD OF NIS AGAIN ON THE SERBIAN WINE MAP

The Seventh Wine Festival will be held in Nis, from 21st of September untill 23rd of September, 2013th at several locations in the city. The festival will be open on Saturday 21st of September in the Army Chamber at 14:00. It is expected that the participants of this event will be representatives from 20 wineries from all over Serbia, and also from Italy and Croatia, regarded Boban Džunić, president of Municipality of Palilula. On the first day of the festival, after the opening in the Army Chamber, those interested will be able to attend the presentation of the book "Tears of St. Nicholas" by Branislav Jankovic, and spend time with the author. There will be competition in preparing barbecue organized by Hospitality and tourism workers of  Nis, and then there will be an auction held of pictures of Bosko Stojkovic. The money collected in this way will go to the charity.

"For the first seven years of existence, the festival has managed to improve and develop the culture of drinking wine, and its production."When we organized the first festival in Nis in 2007, there was only one winery, and the whole district didnt exist on the wine map of the Tourist Organization of Serbia. Now we have more than 10 wineries and Niš was drawn to this wine map. Also, in 2007 there was a huge problem with phytoplasma in vineyards in the vicinity of Nis, and with the development of festival many competitors are encouraged, with the assistance of the Ministry of Agricultures investment, to clean up their vines and put them back to life," said Srdjan Marjanovic, wine festival organizer.

With the development of this festival, the number of vineyards also grew, which had a favorable effect on the development of agriculture in the region, the development of wine culture and wine tourism. Serbia is increasingly starting to use its potential in the field of viticulture and many small wineries grow indigenous grape varieties. Accompanying event of Wine Festival is "The Sixth competition in preparing barbecue," which will be held in the Serbian Army Chamber on 21st of September at 12 hours. It is organized by the Association of hospitality and tourism workers of Nis.

"So far, we have registered over 30 professional chefs of the grill that will participate. They will come from Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and we expect guests from Montenegro. In addition to professional athletes, we will have a younger counterparts from Catering School, who will have the opportunity to enter the world of gastronomy. For us, grill mainly refers to pork and veal, but we expanded it and they will prepare also a fish on the grill," said Zoran Mirašević, the president of hospitality and tourism workers of Nis.

The contestants will be judged by a three-member jury, which will consist of Milijan Stojanovic, a knight of gastronomy from Kosjeric, Stambol Geštamov, main chef of the "Interkonitinetal" hotel, and Nikola Mandic, owner of the restaurant "The American".

Organizers of the this year festival are wine producers and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the City of Nis, Nis Tourist Organization, the Association of hospitality and tourism workers of Nis, Association "Dante Aligieri". This economic and tourism event, will move at the Square of King Milan, on 22nd  and 23rd  of September, where visitors will have an opportunity to taste this drink. Entrance to 7th Wine festival is free.
